Tropical Storm Ida
New Jersey is no stranger to strong storms, but Tropical Storm Ida left a path of destruction most of the state had not seen since Superstorm Sandy. On Sept. 1, this deadly and historic storm spawned multiple tornados and catastrophic flooding throughout New Jersey. An EF 3 tornado in Gloucester County was on the ground for 13 miles, ripping apart homes and businesses. Unprecedented flooding throughout New Jersey resulted in water rushing into homes causing widespread damage. In addition to tornado damage and flood waters, the rushing water caused homes to slide off of mountainsides.
Tropical Storm Ida is now one of New Jersey’s deadliest storms, claiming the lives of 27.
